PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Nestled in the mountains of western Montana, The University of Montana provides an entry-level professional physical therapy program through the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science.  34 full-time graduate students enter the program each year in August and graduate 33 months later with a Doctor in Physical Therapy degree.  Four clinical internships are integrated throughout the curriculum, including an individually-designed 15-week internship the last semester of the program.  Students are integrally involved in scholarly effort.  Over 100 graduates published their research results in refereed journals or in proceedings of national professional conferences.  Research labs include applied exercise physiology, movement science and motor control.  Clinical education, service and research opportunities are also conducted through the Nora Staael Evert Physical Therapy Clinics which are comprised of the UM Sports and Orthopedic Clinic and the New Directions Wellness Center for individuals with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Over the last five years, 100% of our graduates passed the national licensing exam on their first attempt.  The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association.
