PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The mission of the three year (8 semester) full-time only MU Physical Therapy Program is to prepare Doctors of Physical Therapy, grounded in evidence based practice, who are healthcare practitioners of choice for individuals with conditions affecting movement and function. The Marymount University physical therapist education program utilizes a modified problem-based (PBL) curriculum design that blends a traditional instructor-directed format with a more student-directed, problem-based, active-learning format. The student-directed, active-learning component revolves around commonly occurring patient problems that serve as catalyst for students to identify their learning needs and guide their learning activities. Marymount University is located in Northern Virginia just minutes from the nation’s capital. The Physical therapy program is located at Marymount's Ballston Center, just 3 blocks from the Ballston Metro. The Ballston area of Arlington is a vibrant, active area with close access to the Metro subway, bus system, numerous restaurants, shops, clubs, and the arts.
