Additional Deadline Information: *Students are encouraged to complete the application and submit all required transcripts and documents well in advance of the deadline.  This will provide us with sufficient time to review your materials and determine your eligibility for the required group interview.  

Applications submitted after December 1, may be reviewed provided space remains available in the entering class.

Campus Visits: Prospective applicants are welcome to visit the department. An admissions Open House is held each semester. Join us as we discuss the application process, admissions requirements and the DPT curriculum. During the months of June and July, tours of the anatomy lab are available. To schedule a campus visit, please contact us at least two weeks prior to your intended visit.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum is designed to prepare physical therapy students to function as independent entry-level practioners upon graduation.

The objectives of the Entry-Level DPT program are to graduate generalists who are skillfully able to:

  • Function as entry-level independent point-of-entry providers of physical habilitation and rehabilitation services.
  • Effectively examine, evaluate, diagnose, and provide appropriate interventions for patients with primary, secondary, and tertiary physical impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities across the lifespan.
  • Practice in a variety of clinical and non-traditional settings.
  • Provide guidance and interventions to promote wellness and prevention and enhance the physical performance of persons in the community.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing with patients/families, colleagues, other health care workers, and the general public.
  • Effectively manage physical therapy services, administration, marketing strategies, and fiscal responsibilities for their practice setting.
  • Initiate a plan of lifelong learning.
  • Participate as professional and civic leaders to advance the profession of physical therapy.
