PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Idaho State University (ISU)is a 3-year professional entry level degree program preparing students for licensure to practice as physical therapists. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education(CAPTE).

What sets Idaho State University's program apart from other programs?

Integrated Hands-on Clinical Care

  • Students begin working directly with patients during the second semester of their first year in the program.
  • Students work with patients in our on-site clinics or in a variety of settings (cardiac care, home health, acute care, wound care, pediatrics and outpatient) through the local hospital, Portneuf Medical Center.

Outstanding Faculty

  • All faculty members maintain clinical hours. They work in a variety of settings and are active in the community.
  • Our faculty consist of specialists in the areas of pediatrics, neurology, orthopedics, geriatrics and vestibular dysfunction. One of the faculty members holds ABPTS specialist certification.
  • All academic faculty members hold doctoral degrees.

  • Our maximum class size is 26. With 8 faculty members, we have the luxury of knowing each student individually.
