PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Clarkson University's DPT program is eight continuous semesters (Fall/Spring/Summer/Fall/Spring/Summer/Fall/Spring.  Clinical Internships are interspersed throughout the curriculum beginning in the second semester.

The mode of instruction is Problem-Based Learning (PBL).  Clarkson's PBL mode creates small group learning experiences (tutorials) of 5-8 students each, with a faculty tutorial leader for each group.  Approximately 80% of instruction occurs in this mode.  Students who are most successful in this mode of teaching/learning are those who are self-starters and independent learners.

Clarkson is located in a rural area of upstate New York, in a medically underserved area.  Clinical Internship experiences include sites primarily in northern New York, Pennsylvania, and New England, as well as sites in larger cities throughout the country.
